Volunteer

We urgently need people who have experience in coaching football, netball, basket ball and other sports. With the help of the Tag Rugby Trust we have introduced Tag Rugby to northern Uganda in the summer of 2008. If you are able to help with training children in these sports then please get in touch with Kwach Academy.

We are in the process of setting up accommodation for volunteers; volunteers can be from any country as long as they have the skills and experiences in sports and are willing to coach children.
Sponsor a child, Sponsor a family!

In order to succeed in making a positive difference in the lives of its beneficiaries, Kwach Academy requires significant financial support from donors and members of the public. If you choose to make a regular financial pledge to our work, you will have the opportunity to elect to sponsor either an entire family or school-age child.

It is our firm belief that the poverty of the children with whom Kwach Academy works can be largely attributed to the extreme poverty suffered by their parents. This level of deprivation leaves parents struggling to provide the very basics of life to their children and ill-equipped to provide them with such things as education, healthcare, clothes, shoes, things that those born in other circumstances have the fortune to take for granted. This cycle of poverty and consequences that flow from it can only be broken if the parents are provided assistance, so they can in turn can help to provide a better future for their children.

Kwach Academy seeks to help parents through provision of economic support including micro loans, repayable by parents on an interest free basis. The money once repaid will then be held in a fund to be applied towards school fees, school uniforms and the basic necessities of education such as books, pens and pencils.

The parents are offered an opportunity to attend basic training in the skills required when starting up small businesses. This approach has been proven to be highly effective. So far Kwach Academy has worked with over 50 women in this manner and significant successes have been achieved
By choosing to participate by sponsoring a child, you will receive regular feedback about the development and progress of the child, together with items enabling a personal sense of involvement such as school report cards and pictures.

AS previously described, sponsoring a parent is in every way as important and beneficial a commitment as sponsoring children individually. The money raised will, as described above, be applied towards meeting the costs of training and equipping such adults with basic skills that will enable them to reach a position of being capable of providing a brighter future for their children and community.

      A remarkable Success Story

The first recipient of our micro loan program was a grandmother who joined Kwach Academy at its beginning. As a grandmother who had lost her only child a few years earlier, she found herself left with six young children to raise on her own.

Through the use of micro loan program, Kwach Academy has been able to provide her with basic business training and a loan of 300,000 UG shilling, (£100) enabling her to work and have enough money to not only make contribution towards school fees for her grandchildren but also to make the weekly payments on the loans itself.
